Men's Tennis Competes At ITA Regional

Freddie Roberts returns a shot for the Eagles.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater men's tennis team competed at the ITA Southeast Regional event this weekend at the University of Mary Washington.

In singles play in the open draw, Bridgewater's Canon Secord won his opening match over Sam Bellersen of Franklin & Marshall 6-1, 6-4. Secord lost his next match in the Round of 32, falling to Carnegie Mellon's Ray Boppana 6-0, 6-2.

In the C Flight singles, Cole Pawlak won his opening match, outlasting Stevenson's Raymond McDermott in three sets 6-0, 4-6, 6-0. Pawlak dropped his second match to Dickinson's Derek Chen 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles action, Pawlak and Secord partnered to win their opening match in the main draw as the duo defeated Carnegie Mellon's Boppana and Nicholas Calzalano 8-3. In their second match, the Eagles duo dropped an 8-2 decision to Johns Hopkins' Vik Vasan and Cody Kim.

Matthew Gordon and Freddie Roberts won their opener in Flight A, stopping Dickinson's Andrew Lai and Joey Bolanos, 8-6. The Bridgewater duo lost in the next round to Wilkes' Chris Maderitz and Braddock Chow, 8-5.

Nathaniel Horner and Sonet Gandhi lost their quarterfinal contest in Flight B Doubles to Averett's Thomas Woodcock and Henry Blanco, 8-2.
