NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Bridgewater College men's track and field team is ranked No. 25 in the nation by the USTFCCCA. The men are coming off their second straight ODAC championship title and have several athletes in qualifying positions for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Davonta Womack currently has the third best 100 meter dash time (10.54) and 14th best long jump mark (7.24m/23'9") in Division III. Dirk Jones joins Womack with a top long jump mark coming in at 23rd in the nation (7.10m/23'3.5").
Jamie Hiegel gives the Eagles another top ten time in the 10,000 meters. His mark of 30:07.63 is seventh best in the nation, while the Eagles 4x100 meter relay team of Womack, Jones, Galloway and Diante Cannon have the third fastest time this season (41.16).
In addition to the team ranking, the men's long jump event squad ranks second in the country and the 100 meter dash and triple jump teams rank tenth. The long jump squad has a total mark of 27.99m/91'10" with an average jump of 7.00m/22'11.5". Womack (7.24m/23'9"), Jones (7.10m/23'3.5"), Brandon Christian (6.95m/22'9.75") and Brady Barefoot (6.70m/21'11.75") have posted the top marks for the Eagles this season.
Bridgewater's total 100 meter dash time is 43.62 with an average dash of 10.90. Womack (10.54), Jones (10.94), Cannon (11.04) and Anthony Lovelace (11.10) contribute the top times. Rosenthal (13.99m/45'10.75"), Christian (13.80m/45'3.5"), Christopher Moore (13.67m/44'10.25") and Rashon Davis (13.16m/43'2.25") contribute the Eagles top triple jump marks for a total of 54.62m/179'3" with an average mark of 13.66m/44'9.75".
The men will continue competing at last chance meets with the hopes of sending as many qualifiers to the NCAA Outdoor Championships as possible.
