Huffman, Hiegel Win Titles on Day One of ODAC Championship

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Seniors Corey Huffman and Jamie Hiegel both won individual titles to lead the Eagles on day one of the ODAC Outdoor Championships. The men currently sit in second place with 33 points. Lynchburg is only a .5 behind the Eagles with 32.5 points. Washington & Lee is in first with 57 points.

Huffman's javelin mark of 53.72m/176'3" was more than three meters further than the second place finisher. The senior reached his winning mark on his final attempt.

Hiegel won his second consecutive outdoor 10,000 meter run conference title (32:10.63), finishing 30 seconds before the next athlete.

Richard Wojno took fifth in the javelin (46.42m/152'3") and Brady Barefoot came in eighth (41.38m/135'9").

Rashon Davis and Brandon Christian earned points for the Eagles in the high jump. Davis finished seventh (1.86m/6'1.25") with Christian one spot behind in eighth (1.86m/6'1.25").

Griffin Simpson placed fifth in the pole vault (3.93m/12'10.75") and Chase Rosenthal finished in eighth (3.48m/11'5").

The Eagles continue competition tomorrow, April 20.
