FOREST, Va.- The Bridgewater College softball team has been picked ninth in the 2019 ODAC Preseason Poll.
Defending national champions Virginia Wesleyan secured the top spot with ten first place votes and 100 points. Randolph-Macon received the remaining first place vote and 90 points to take the second spot. Emory & Henry and Lynchburg rounded out the top four with 78 and 77 points respectively.
In 2018, the Eagles finished with a 15-23 overall record and a 3-15 mark in the ODAC.
Head coach Lis Schulz returns a core group of six seniors along with seven new players. Junior Stephanie Carroll returns after earning a spot on the All-ODAC first team and VaSID All-State second team last season. Carroll led the team in several statistical categories including batting average (.386), on-base percentage (.449), slugging percentage (.518), hits (44) and doubles (11). She ranked ninth in the ODAC in batting average.
The 2019 season begins for the Eagles as they host Penn St.-Altoona in a double header on February 23. The team will then take a trip to Florida where they will play ten games before opening conference play on March 20 at Randolph. For the entire schedule, click here.
