BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's swimming team won its Senior Day meet, 171-31 over Greensboro on Saturday.
It was Senior Day for seven swimmers who will compete at their final ODAC championship next month- Taylor Berard, Emma Daw (who is graduating early), Laurel Glover, Phoebe Hart, Kelley Hilliker, Jenna Walmer and Jessy Wilson.
All seven swam together in the 200 free relay. Hilliker, Daw, Glover and Olivia Heeb-Wade won in 2:01.60, while Berard, Walmer, Wilson and Hart were second in 2:16.82.
Walmer (1:26.09) and Berard (1:34.16) went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke.
Daw finished first in two consecutive freestyle events- the 50 free (29.78) and 100 free (1:05.21). Jessica Touve nearly caught her in the latter race, placing second in 1:05.32.
Touve took the 200 IM (2:24.28), with Hart (3:26.73) in second place. Rachael King followed that with a win in the 200 fly, in a school record 2:40.47.
Daw later won the 100 fly (1:13.83), with Genevieve Young in second with a time of 1:19.58.
Heeb-Wade won the 1500 free in 19:47.02, just missing the program mark. Kaitlyn Hilliker kept the gap behind the ODAC's fifth-leading 1650 meter swimmer to less than 50 meters for most of the race, finishing in 20:33.63.
Heeb-Wade later won the 200 breaststroke in 3:00.18, with Walmer in second place (3:19.54). Kelley Hilliker took the 400 free in 4:58.97.
Amanda Nesselrodt led a BC sweep in the 100 back (1:15.31), finishing ahead of teammates Morgan Beauregard (1:17.62) and Glover (1:18.73).
Kaitlyn Hilliker, Nesselrodt, King and Touve closed the meet with a time of 9:46.87 in the 800 free relay.
The meet had opened with an exhibition mixed 200 medley relay, and Nesselrodt and Walmer combined with male teammates Austin Bacon and Raphael Stanek to win in 2:07.05.
The Eagles are 6-1, 5-1 ODAC, with this year's senior class winning their 29th career dual meet. Bridgewater will wrap up its dual meet schedule next Saturday at Randolph-Macon.
