Eagle Women Take Down Hollins 83-48

ROANOKE, Va. - Behind five players in double figures and a monster first-half output, the Bridgewater Eagles (7-4, 5-3 ODAC) women's basketball team defeated Hollins University by an 83-48 tally in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

Bridgewater jumped out to a 41-19 halftime lead behind a 52% first half performance from the field and a solid defensive effort.

With a 22-point halftime advantage, the Eagles used the opportunity to rest the team's starters, allowing all 15 BC players to see the action en route to a 84-38 victory.

BC was led by a pair of newcomers in Katelynn Hottinger and Jessica Mullen. Hottinger and Mullen each chipped in career highs with Hottinger scoring 14 and Mullen adding 15. Hottinger also recorded her first career double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Hollins (1-11, 0-8 ODAC) was led by a 12-point output from Tamara Phillips.

Bridgewater out rebounded Hollins by a 49-25 tally and outshot the hosts by a 50%-to-28% margin for the game.

The Eagles also forced 25 Hollins turnovers while committing 23 miscues.

BC is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, when the squad hosts Washington and Lee at Nininger Hall. Saturday's game is a White Out at Nininger Hall with the first 50 students receiving free white t-shirts courtesy of Eagle Productions. The contest is a doubleheader with the women's game on the front end of the twinbill with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
