Eagles Fall To No. 14 Captains

Erika Nettles looks to pass

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Christopher Newport outscored Bridgewater 31-17 in the first quarter Wednesday night and the 14th-ranked Captains went on to defeat the Eagles 102-56 in a non-conference contest at Nininger Hall.

CNU's pressure defense, that forced 42 turnovers, and a cold-shooting night by the Eagles led to the Captains' victory. The Captains have forced at least 30 turnovers in all six of their games this season.

CNU (6-0) placed five players in double figures. The Captains were paced by Kiana Kirkland with 15 points.

Freshman forward Lindsay Estes was the lone Bridgewater player in double figures as she finished with 12 points. Rebecca Harvey and Makayla Johnson scored nine points each.

Bridgewater, now 4-2 on the season, returns to conference action Sunday afternoon when the Eagles host Randolph College.
