BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team defeated Guilford, 14-7 in ODAC play on Saturday.
Anna O'Hara and Kristen Stark each had hat tricks for the Eagles. Shannon Rogers and Dwyer Neal totaled two goals and an assist each, with BC also getting two goals from Abby Houtz and Sarah Yashinskie.
Mikaela Brooks made 10 saves in the cage for the Eagles. Kayla O'Sullivan had three draw controls and a game-high four caused turnovers.
The teams traded two-goal runs for most of the first half.
After Neal opened the scoring for Bridgewater, Carter MacLeod appeared to tie it for Guilford but a timeout was whistled before the shot.
Bridgewater took a 2-0 lead with Brooks making a good save on a Madison Iandoli free position, before Iandoli responded with two straight goals to even up the contest.
Neal found Rogers shorthanded in transition to make it 4-2, but this time Grace Moore scored twice in a row to again erase the two-goal margin.
Bridgewater finally broke the trend in the second half. After taking a 6-4 lead into the break, Yashinskie's eight-meter made it three consecutive points for the hosts. Stark cut in from the endline to score and make it 8-4, and Neal struck just 27 seconds later for a five-goal advantage.
Iandoli finished with game-highs in both points (five) and draw controls (five), while causing three turnovers. Guilford goalie Sarah Sedaghat totaled 14 saves.
Bridgewater improves to 7-2, 1-1 ODAC and will host Roanoke next Saturday. Guilford falls to 6-5, 1-2.
