Women's Lacrosse Loses Season Opener at Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team lost its season opener, 15-8 at Marymount on Saturday.

Shannon Rogers led the Eagles with two goals, an assist, two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Sarah Yashinskie and Jacqueline DiFulvio each scored twice. Anna O'Hara added an assist, three gound balls and four draw controls.

Rogers scored shorthanded to get the Eagles on the board after Marymount had taken a quick 3-0 lead. Bridgette Stacom answered with a man-up goal to make it 4-1.

The Saints stretched their lead to 6-1 before BC freshman Melissa Wilson scored her first collegiate goal. The hosts would lead 10-3 at halftime.

Yashinskie scored twice in a row to make it 11-6 with under 20 minutes remaining as the Eagles tried to rally, but Marymount responded with three straight to pull away.

Bridgewater held a 25-19 advantage in shots during the game, but Marymount starting goalie Holly Reik made 11 saves in the cage.

The Eagles are 0-1 and will travel to Methodist next Saturday.
