Bridgewater Loses at #1 W&L

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team lost 22-3 to #1 Washington & Lee on the road Wednesday.

Kristen Stark had a goal and an assist for the Eagles. Sarah Yashinskie scored once and won seven draw controls, and Dwyer Neal caused two turnovers.

Stark tied the game early on at 1-1 after controlling the draw control to begin the possession.

Stark then assisted her fellow senior Yashinskie to make it 5-2 W&L in the 10th minute of action.

The Generals pulled away at that point, scoring eight straight to make it 13-2. Claire Fulton picked up a yellow card but Dani Murray and Maddy Graves scored two shorthanded goals in a span of 16 seconds to push the score to 12-2.

Jacqueline DiFulvio assisted Anna O'Hara with 8:25 left in the first half to break the run, with the Eagles held scoreless after that point.

Murray and Haley Tucker each had a game-high five goals for W&L. Bridgewater goalie Mikaela Brooks made eight saves.

The Eagles are 4-11, 3-4 and will host Lynchburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day, when the graduating foursome of Stark, Yashinskie, O'Hara and Phoebe Hart will be recognized.

Washington & Lee, who has been #1 in the IWLCA poll for the past two weeks, improved to 12-2, 6-0.
