Goalkeeper Sydney Davis punts the ball for the Eagles.

FROSTBURG, Md. - Bridgewater College improved to 6-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory Wednesday evening at Frostburg State in women's soccer action.

The Eagles jumped on top early with a goal in the ninth minute. Senior forward Bailey Kratz took on a Bobcats defender wide, cut to the inside past two more defenders and slipped the shot inside the near post for a 1-0 Bridgewater lead. The goal was the third of the season for Kratz.

Bridgewater added an insurance goal early in the second half. Freshman midfielder Hanna Randolph possessed a loose ball about 40 yards out, dribbled toward the top of the circle and stroked a shot from deep with her left foot, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead. The goal was Randolph's third of the season.

The Eagles' defense made the lead stand up, limiting the Bobcats to just six total shots and one corner kick during the contest. Bridgewater goalkeeper Sydney Davis finished with two saves to record the shutout, her third of the season.

The Eagles put nine of their 14 shots on frame and finished the contest with three corner kicks, all in the second half.

Bridgewater returns to action Saturday afternoon when the Eagles play their conference opener against Emory & Henry. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
