Eagles Claim No. 1 Seed For ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament

Head coach Mike Van Horn talks with his team.

FOREST, Va. - Bridgewater College will be the top seed for next week's ODAC women's soccer tournament, the first time in program history the Eagles have been seeded No. 1.

Bridgewater, Randolph-Macon and Lynchburg finished in a three-way tie for first place at the end of regular-season play, each with identical 7-1-2 conference records.

After working through the tiebreaker scenarios, the Eagles emerged as the top seed, followed by Randolph-Macon and Lynchburg. Virginia Wesleyan is seeded fourth, followed by Roanoke, Washington and Lee, Shenandoah, Ferrum and Randolph.

There was also a three-way tie for the ninth and final spot in the tournament between Randolph, Eastern Mennonite and Guiford. Randolph won the tiebreaker to claim the No. 9 seed.

Bridgewater will host a quarterfinal game Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. against the winner of the 8-9 play-in game between Ferrum and Randolph. The play-in game will be played Monday at Ferrum.

Other quarterfinal matchups include: No. 7 Shenandoah at No. 2 Randolph-Macon, No. 6 Washington and Lee at No. 3 Lynchburg and No. 5 Roanoke at No. 4 Virginia Wesleyan.

If the Eagles win their quarterfinal contest, the ODAC semifinals and final will be hosted by Bridgewater next weekend.
