LEXINGTON, Va. - Greensboro opened up a 2-0 halftime lead and held on to defeat Bridgewater College 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Washington and Lee University.
Greensboro's Haley Russell scored unassisted goals in the 26th and 41st minutes, giving the Pride a 2-0 halftime lead. Bridgewater struggled to create offense in the first half, managing just one shot.
Down the stretch, however, the Eagles were unable to come up with the tying goal as Greensboro held on for the victory.
The Pride finished with a 10-9 edge in total shots and a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal.
The Eagles, now 1-1, open their home schedule Tuesday afternoon when they host Gettysburg.
