Second-half Goals Lift Gettysburg Past Eagles

Bridgewater goalkeeper Sydney Davis

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Gettysburg scored two second-half goals Tuesday afternoon as the visiting Bullets defeated Bridgewater, 2-0, in non-conference wonen's soccer action.

Both teams had opportunities in the first half, but neither could find the back of the net.

In the opening two minutes of the match, Erika Muskus fired a shot from just outside the box, but the ball ricocheted off the cross bar and bounced back into the field of play.

Bridgewater midfielder Hanna Randolph had two good looks in the opening half, but missed on each attempt. In the 10th minute, Randolph worked free for a shot from the left side of the box, but her attempt rolled just wide of the far post. Three minutes later, Randolph took a shot from the top of the box that sailed just over the crossbar.

The score remained 0-0 until the 66th minute. Molly O'Shea touched the ball in the box to Brigette Mullineaux who spun free of her defender and hit her shot from the left side of the box into the back of the net to put the visitors ahead 1-0.

Gettysburg tallied again in the 73rd minute when Tatum Lareau scored off an assist from Muskus for a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles threatened following Gettysburg's second goal when a cross to the far post was headed by Randolph, but the shot once again was just high over the bar.

Bridgewater, now, 1-2, travels to Fredericksburg this weekend for the Mary Washington Classic where the Eagles will play Rowan on Saturday and Mary Washington on Sunday.
