SALSIBURY, Md. - Bridgewater College battled Salisbury to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action.
The Eagles scored first, taking the lead in the 31st minute. After a low cross into the box, Emily York passed the ball to the near post where Ana Elson finished for her first goal of the season and a 1-0 Bridgewater lead.
The Eagles led 1-0 at the half, but the Seagulls got a foul in the box in the opening minute of the second half and were awarded the penalty kick. Lydia Narum took the PK, but Eagles' keeper Sydney Davis came up with the big save to keep the hosts off the board. A minute later however, Salsibury evened the score when Narum headed the ball into the back of the net off a free kick from Kasey Lamb.
The Eagles allowed just two shots in the first half, but the Seagulls applied the pressure in the second half with eight shots. Davis had five saves in the second half as the game went to overtime. Salisbury had two shots in the first OT and one in the second, but Davis recorded a save in each extra session to keep Salisbury off the board as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Bridgewater is back in action Tuesday when they host the Roanoke Maroons. The contest in a non-conferenece match and will not count in the ODAC standings.
