LYNCHBURG, Va. - After a scoreless first half, the University of Lynchburg overwhelmed Bridgewater College in the second half to take a 4-0 victory in ODAC action.
The first 45 minutes were evevly played as the teams went to the break tied. The Hornets held a slim 7-4 edge in total shots, but each team put three shots on frame in the first half. Lynchburg also held a narrow 2-1 edge in corner kicks. Sydney Davis, Sydney Ryan and Morgan Todd each put a shot on goal in the first half, but Lynchburg keeper Caitlin Dorsch was in psoition for the save each time.
The Lynchburg offense kept the pressure on throughout the second half, taking 20 shots, compared to just three for the Eagles.
The Hornets got on the scoreboard in the 55th minute on a goal by Amanda Wigboldy. Eight minutes later Sarah Barnes scored to nake the score 2-0. Georgie Duggan and Taylor Stevens added goals to complete the scoring for the Hornets.
Bridgewater, now 3-5-2 overall and 0-1 in the ODAC, is back in action Monday when the Eagles host Averett in non-conference action.
