Bridgewater Shuts Out Ferrum, 2-0

FERRUM, Va. - Bridgewater College recorded its third straight shutout victory with a 2-0 conference win Friday evening at Ferrum College.

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead on Cyan Coates' unassisted goal in the 13th minute and Bridgewater held the lead throughout the remainder of the first half. Both teams had six shots in the opening half and both teams put three shots on goal.

The Eagles added a key insurance goal early in the second half when Sydney Ryan scored off a pass from Catherine Haufe for a 2-0 Bridgewater lead.

Bridgewater controlled play in the second half, holding a 9-2 edge in total shots in the final 45 minutes. Ferrum did not put a shot of goal in the second half. Eagles' keeper Sydney Davis finished with three saves to record the shutout.

The victory moves the Eagles above the .500 mark with a 6-5-2 overall record. Bridgewater is now 2-2 in the ODAC.

Bridgewater returns to action on Wednesday when the Eagles host Shenandoah University.
