Eagles Blank Randolph For Fifth Straight Win

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Senior forward Catherine Haufe continued her recent scoring binge with two more goals Saturday to spark the Eagles to their fifth straight win with a 2-0 ODAC victory over Randolph College.

Haufe has tallied at lease one point during each of Bridgewater's wins during the current streak. In the past five games, Haufe has six goals and two assists.

The Eagles took the lead in the 28th minute on Haufe's first goal. Ana Elson played a ball ahead to Haufe and the Eagles's senior best the Randolph goalie with a shot inside the near post for a 1-0 lead.

Bridgewater held the one-goal cushion at the half and the score remained 1-0 until Haufe scored again in the 74th minute. Elson played a ball to Haufe from the right side with a pass to the midldle. Haufe took the ball on the dribble into the box, slipped past a defender and hit a shot with her left foot from 10 yards out and slotted the ball just inside the post, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles held a commanding 26-4 edge in total shots. Bridgewater keeper Sydney Davis recorded the shuout while making one save.

Bridgewater returns to action Wednesday when the Eagles host rival Eastern Mennonite in the program's annual Cancer Awareness game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and join the Eagles in their goal of increasing Cancer Awareness. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
