Women's Tennis Blanks Emory & Henry

Jamiah Lewis competes at No. 1 singles for the Eagles.

EMORY, Va. - Bridgewater lost just one game in sweeping doubles play Sunday and the Eagles then won all six singles flights in straight sets to blank Emory & Henry, 9-0, in ODAC women's tennis action.

Rachel Zarin and Rachel Crawford put their match in the book first as the duo blanked Kala Curtis and Kelsey Holt, 8-0, to win at No. 3 doubles. Nicole Shifflett and Stephanie Barton took the point at No. 2 with an 8-1 victory over Bri Pierce and Tessa Johnston. Jamia Lewis and Whitney Kiser finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-0 victory at No.1 doubles over Katie Meade and Kaitlyn Sheaves.

Shifflett was the first singles play off the court as she downed Johnston 6-0, 6-1 to win at No. 3. Kiser scored the clinching point with a 6-1, 6-0 verdict over Sheaves at No. 2.

Lewis defeated Meade at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2 while Barton turned back Pierce 6-0, 6-4 to win at No. 4. Crawford blanked Ellington King 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and Zarin defeated Curtis 6-1, 6-2 to win at the No. 5 slot.
