ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon slipped past Bridgewater College, 5-4, Saturday in a tightly contested ODAC women's tennis match.

Doubles play proved to be key as the Yellow Jackets emerged with a 2-1 lead.

The Eagles got on the board first when Jamiah Lewis and Whitney Kiser defeated Stephanie Yeager and Kristin Dantzler 8-3 to win the No. 1 doubles match.

Randolph-Macon evened the score when Gaby Tersigni and Olivia Uzer held off Nicole Shifflett and Stephanie Barton, 8-5, at the No. 2 slot. The Yellow Jackets took the lead at No. 3 doubles where Landon Aud and Sarah Hinson downed Rachel Zarin and Rachel Crawford 8-3.

The Yellow Jackets moved closer to the team victory with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Tersigni stopped Lewis 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 slot and Dantzler defeated Shifflett 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. 

Bridgewater picked up the point at No. 2 singles where Kiser downed Yeager 6-4, 6-0.

Randolph-Macon scored the clinching point at No. 5 singles when Aud turned back Zarin 6-3, 6-2.

Bridgewater won the final two matches on the court in split sets. Barton defeated Uzer 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) at the No. 4 flight and Crawford edged Izzy Wadsworth 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (10-3) to take the victory at No. 6 singles.
