Eagles Rally For 5-4 Win Over Cardinals

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Bridgewater women's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play Monday to defeat St. John Fisher, 5-4.

The Eagles got on the board first when Stephanie Barton and Rachel Crawford rolled to an 8-3 win over Mikayla Santulli and Jackie Chouinard at the No. 2 slot.

The Cardinals' Kaili Saffran and Cassidy Bell edged Whitney Kiser and Nicole Shifflett 8-6 to win at No.1 doubles. St. John Fisher also won at No. 3 where Carol Seaberg and Grace Peter defeated Bridgewater's Emily Daigneault and Alexia Will in a tiebreaker.

The Eagles surged ahead 4-2 with victories in the top three singles flights.

Barton was the first off the court with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Seaberg at No. 3. Kiser put the Eagles ahead when she defeated Saffran 6-4, 6-4 to win the match at No. 1. Shifflett rallied from a set down to defeat Bell 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) to win at No. 3 singles.

St. John Fisher stayed alive when Santulli took a tough 7-5, 6-3 win over Crawford at No. 4. The Eagles earned the clinching point when Will defeated Valerie Morgans 6-3, 6-3 to take the point at No. 6.

The Cardinals claimed the final point when Zuzanna Pociecha won in split sets at No. 5 over Daigneault 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6).
