Women's Tennis Falls To College Of Saint Benedict

HILTON HEAD ISLAND - The College of Saint Benedict handed the Bridgewater College women's tennis team an 8-1 setback Thursday.

The Eagles picked up their lone point at No. 1 singles where Whitney Kiser won in split sets over Tessa Rahrick. Kiser lost the first set 6-3, but rallied to even the match by winning the second set 6-2. Kiser took the victory by winning the tiebreaker 10-8. 

Saint Benedict won the remaining singles matches in straight sets. Kayla McIver downed Stephanie Barton 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and at No. 3 Lily Fredericks defeated Rachel Crawford 6-0, 6-2. Erin Kolbow downed Emily Daigneault at No, 4, Mackenzie Schurhamer defeated Alexia Will at No. 5 and Karsen Aune stopped Katie Austin at No. 6. All three of those matches were decided by the same 6-0, 6-0 scores.

In doubles action. Saint Benedict's McIver and Fredericks outlasted Kiser and Barton in a close match at No. 1, 8-6. At No. 2 doubles, Rahrick and Kolbow downed Crawford and Will 8-0. Schurhamer and Aune defeated Bridgewater's Daigneault and Caroline Edwards 8-0 at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep.
