Randolph-Macon downs Eagles 8-1

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Randolph-Macon defeated Bridgewater College 8-1 Saturday afternoon in ODAC women's tennis action played on Mapp Courts.

The Yellow Jackets started strong by sweeping the three doubles matches.

Isabel Wadsworth and Courtney Jenkins put the visitors on the board with an 8-1 victory over Bridgewater's Alexia Will and Emily Daigneault at No. 3 doubles.  The Yellow Jackets took the point at No. 2 when Kristin Dantzler and Landon Aud turned back Stephanie Barton and Rachel Crawford 8-3. The No. 1 doubles match went the distance as Morgan Fuqua and Stephanie Yeager edged Bridgewater's Whitney Kiser and Nicole Shifflett 8-7. The Yellow Jackets duo won the tiebreaker 8-6.

Yeager took the first singles point for Macon with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 3 slot over Crawford. Kiser picked up the Eagles' lone point with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Fuqua at No. 1 singles before the Yellow Jackets closed out the match with Dantzler outlasting Shifflett in split sets at the No. 2 position 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Aud defeated Will 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and Jenkins downed Katie Austin 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. Wadsworth added the final point with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 over Daigneault.
