FOREST, Va. - Bridgewater College women's track and field senior athletes Courtney Adams and Amber Celen were awarded ODAC women's track and field athletes of the week, as announced by the conference Monday evening.
Bridgewater hosted the 23rd Doc Jopson Invitational on Friday.
Adams was named this weeks field athlete honor after she competed in four events over the weekend. She won the pole vault at 3.53 meters (11-7.00), which currently ranks 24th in the nation and leads the ODAC by almost a foot. She also won the triple jump with a mark of 11.37 meters (37-3.75). That mark sits atop the ODAC and ranks 27th in Division III.
Celen was named track athlete of the week after she took the track for the first time for the 2018 outdoor season. She won the 100-meter dash on a time of 12.18 seconds. Her preliminary time of 12.09 seconds ranks sixth in Division III and second in the ODAC. She also finished first in 200-meter dash with an ODAC-leading time of 24.95 seconds. That time also sits ninth in the nation. Celen also competed in the 4x100-meter relay, helping the Eagles win with a time 49.38 seconds, which is second in the ODAC.
The Eagles are back in action next weekend when they host the 2018 ODAC Track and Field Championships. Events are Friday, April 20th beginning at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 21st beginning at 10:00 a.m.
