Ariel Breaks School Record At Bast-Cregger Invitational

SALEM, Va. - Junior Calista Ariel set a new Bridgewater record in the 3000m as the women's track and field team started the indoor season at the Bast-Cregger Invitational in Salem.

Ariel's time of 10:18.54 beats Kaylee Kubisiak's time of 10:21.26 set in 2014. The Eagles had a strong showing in the distance events with English Jackson taking 4th in the 3K with a time of 10:35.42, and Lynsey Taylor finishing in 10th with a time of 11:40.01.

Olivia Kloster placed 36th in the shot put with a mark of 8.04m, while Destiny Neff took 20th in the long jump and 26th in the 200m with a time of 29.82.

Freshman Savannah Blake and Kacee Hooker both placed in two events at their indoor debut. Blake took 14th in the triple jump with a mark of 9.34m and 15th in the 200m, crossing the finish line at 28.55. Hooker took 5th in the 200m at 27.53 and 3rd in the 600m at 1:47.81 for a strong showing.

Along with Neff, Blake, and Hooker, fellow freshman Briana Racine and Kelly Akers also made the 200m finals. Racine took 29th at 30.06 with Akers right behind her in 30th at 30.07.

Erin Fitzpatrick competed in the 600m finals, placing 6th with a time of 1:56.99.

The women's track and field team is back in action following the New Year on January 12th at the F&M Coach I Invitational in Lancaster, Pa.
