Top-Eight Track Finishes Lead Eagles at Finn Pincus

SALEM, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's track & field team had six top-eight finishes on the track, as the Eagles opened spring semester competition at Roanoke's Finn Pincus Invite.

Calista Ariel won the mile in a new school record 5:11.20. The Eagles went 1-2 in the race, with English Jackson (5:16.65) placing second.

The Eagles' distance crew also featured Jenna Rea, who was fourth in the 3000 meters (10:56.01). Kacee Hooker was eighth in the 400m in 1:02.27.

The 4x400m relay team of Hooker, Emily Valle, Savannah Blake and Erin Fitzpatrick was second overall, in 4:19.20.

Valle had the top prelims time in the 60m hurdles (9.44), although she would scratch from the eight-person finals. Also placing highly in that event were Hooker (11th, 10.26) and Jordan Davis (12th, 10.33).

Valle led the field events with a ninth place finish in the long jump (4.98m/16'4.25"). Fitzpatrick was 10th overall in the high jump (1.44m/4'8.75").

Katie McElroy placed 17th in the triple jump with a mark of 9.60m/31'6".

Bridgewater will head to North Carolina next weekend for the Camel City Invitational.
