Women's Cross Country Selected Third in Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's cross country team earned a total of 108 points to secure a third place ranking in the 2018 ODAC Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll.

Washington and Lee received ten first-place votes and 141 total points to finish first in the poll. Lynchburg was picked second with two first-place votes and 128 total points. Shenandoah received the remaining first-place vote from the league's coaches to sit just below the Eagles at fourth. 

In 2017, Bridgewater finished fourth at the ODAC Championships and 11th at the NCAA South/Southeast Region Championships. 

The Eagles return two all-conference athletes in Calista Ariel and Jenna Rea. Ariel, a junior out of Fredericksburg, Va., earned a spot on the first team after finishing fifth at the ODAC Championships with a time of 22:21.93. She also earned All South/Southeast Region accolades after finishing 29th with a time of 22:42.6. Rea, a senior from Staunton, Va., finished 13th at the ODAC Championships with a time of 22:42.27 to land a spot on the second team.

Bridgewater opens the season at home with the Eagle Cross Country Challenge on August 31.
